Felines (“Cats”)
Felines were carnivorous mammals often referred to as “cats.“ This family encompassed both wild and domesticated breeds. Characteristics included retractile claws, slender muscular bodies and strong flexible forelimbs. Their teeth and facial muscles allowed for a powerful bite. It did not include creatures like the chimera, because it doesn’t have all the characteristics of a feline. Griffins were also not included in the family for the same reason and were largely regarded as birds.
