Dropbear (drawp-behr)
The dropbear was a medium-sized mammal native to temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. The dropbear had a body length of 40 to 70 cm (16 to 28 in) and the bodyweight of 3.5 to 9 kg (8 to 20 lb). Its brownish coat mostly consisted of dense underfur which insulated it against cold weather. Two of the dropbear’s most distinctive features were its extremely dexterous front paws. Dropbears were noted for their intelligence, with studies showing that they were able to remember the solution to tasks, demonstrating an IQ to a three year old. Although they have thrived in sparsely wooded areas in the last decades, dropbears depend on vertical structures to climb when they felt threatened. Therefore, they avoided open terrain. Tree hollows in old oaks or other trees and rock crevices were preferred by dropbears as sleeping, winter and litter dens.
