Fairy (faer-ee)
FairiesĀ were colorful 6 -12 inch tall creatures. They had no definable gender, but appeared to all be female. Though they may have looked female, all fairies possessed dormant male testosterone. When the pack alpha male died, one select fairy would actually adopt masculine characteristics and become the new alpha male for breeding purposes.
Warm temperate regions of the northern and southern hemispheres were home to many fairy colonies. Fairies in the northern and southern hemispheres migrated with the seasons. Those living at or near the equator did not feel the need to move around so much. Because they were so small, fairies were able to squeeze into any knot in a tree, small hole, or flower.
They preferred to live in flowers because that was where they got most of their food from and offered safe environments to raise their young. Fairies subsisted mainly on the sweet nectar from flowers. The natural sugars in the nectar caused them to get a little hyper at times; thereby leading people to believe they were naturally excitable. Insects, fruit, and the leafs made up the rest of their diet, but they preferred drinking nectar. All the ill effects from the sugar was burned off during flight.
