Felis-Shiff (fehl-is-shif)
Felis-Shiff (fehl-is-shif) or “felis” (common) or “felis-shiffs” (plural) were the feline versions of the canis-shiff. Shiff species were able to change the color of their hair or fur. This often resulted in bright multicolored pastel coats. Some felis-shiffs could change the hue of each individual hair to help them blend in with their surroundings. Male “toms” and female “mollies” gave birth to live “kittens.” A full grown adult averaged about 18 in. (46 cm.) head to tail and weighed 9 – 11 lbs (4-5 kg). Kittens were born without hair, which grew in a milky white over time. The ability to shift the color of their coats about six months.
Felis-shiffs were constantly getting lost. Collars were actually invented for the express purpose of making sure the animal couldn’t become totally invisible. Dressing up cats in outfits was also popularized by owners of felis-shiffs who wished to make it easier to spot their pets.
