Ikfor (ik-fohr)
The ikfor was a species of lizard found in the desert. Their venomous bite made them a predator not to be taken lightly. Two glands on the lower jaw secreted toxic protiens that were strong enough to erode skin down to the bone with a single bite. They would attack when threatened, especially against people encroching upon their territory. Mating typically took place at the start of the new year and eggs were laid near the end of the year. As many as 40 eggs could be laid by an ikfor at one time. Eggs were incubated for seven to eight months before hatching. Ikfor’s made their nests by burrowing down under the sand. Their young were raised underground for two years before they were old enough to surface.
