Chief Shuss (shuhs)

Shuss

Chief Shuss commanded the human Eriku tribe in 500 FY. According to him, he invented the wheel. He gained his high status in the tribe following the death of his father. The boy was so young when he accepted the duty of leading his people that he couldn’t even grow a beard. The wheel brought him too much unearned respect for his own good as he selfishly protected this new ancient technology. The only thing Chief Shuss wanted for himself more than the wheel was a domesticated alphyn to do his bidding.

Mosa’s Quest

Chief Shuss was the main antagonist of the short story titled “Mosa’s Quest.” In the story he was first mentioned by the goblins who came to trade with Mosa’s tribe. It was said they strayed across Eriku and triggered Shuss’s wrath when they tried to take the wheel. Mosa undertook a journey to get the wheel for her beleaguered tribe. Shuss struck a deal to give her permission to use the wheel in exchange for her helping to domesticate a trio of alphyn pups to answer to him.

When Shuss and the pups were attacked by a cockatrice, Nash — Mosa’s alphyn – leapt in to save them. To show his gratitude, Shuss let the troll leave with the wheel and the alphyns.
