Tefnut

The most infamous chupacabra in history, Tefnut was an evil time traveller and consistently featured at Chronos’ side as his most loyal lieutenant in the Titans. Tefnut was always quick to go in for the kill. Much of her objective was left up to interpretation. Thoth described her fragile mental state as one driven by her savage animalistic lust. She didn’t understand reason and rejected attempts to negotiate. All she knew how to do was kill for what she wanted. That made her a devious and unpredictable villain.

Books

Dawn of Fabella

Tefnut was a secondary antagonist in Dawn of Fabella. She was first introduced to Emit when he arrived in Ancient Egypt. Tefnut rushed to intercept him from Lilly and Bastet. Stephanie rescued him from being spotted and explained that Tefnut was second in command of the Titans.

Emit then spent several nights observing Tefnut’s habits. One night he snuck down into a hidden bunker at her temple full of stolen treasures from history. Stephanie, there to recover the stolen goods, informed Emit that Tefnut was a time traveller. Tefnut then attacked them, revealing herself to not be human in the process. Emit and Stephanie fought their way through Tefnut and the Titans to get back to a smoldering Bubastis.

Hellbent on revenge for razing Bubastis, Emit followed the Alliance of Sentinels to the Great Pyramids of Giza where Tefnut triggered a gateway to Fabella. Emit escaped her clutches with the Sentinels and a group of rebelling merfolk.

Emit spent years fighting against Puntian armies commanded by Tefnut on the Sea People’s Rebellion, with little success. When Stephanie arrived back in Fabella permanently, she led the Sentinels in establishing the Republic of Fantasia. At the wedding between Stephanie and Thoth, Lord Lukis revealed that Tefnut was Thoth’s biological mother!

Tefnut and Emit didn’t meet again until the final battle. When the army of Titans led by Chronos descended upon Fantasia, Tefnut used a curse to mind control Bastet. She then used Bastet to cast a killing curse at Zeus. Stephanie swooped in to take the curse instead, ending her life. Tefnut flung obstacles in front of Emit and Lilly as they raced to catch her, slipping away from their grasp at the last possible second.

Herstory

Tefnut was the main antagonist of Herstory. Unbenknownst to anyone, Alix kept Tefnut as a pet Siamese wedgie cat in the year 2025 AD. Stephanie never knew why the cat always tried to claw at her and seemed to hate her.

Stephanie first met Tefnut in the flesh when she killed Thoth on the edge of a cliff. This incarnation of Tefnut was her ultimate form of a monstrous demon with eight eyes bat like wings and a hand ending in a claw.

Stephanie lived in fear of Tefnut as she studied at St. Tara’s Academy, knowing she’d ultimately have to face the villainess again. That day came far sooner than expected when Tefnut attacked the Academy searching for Stephanie.

Little time passed for Stephanie before the two met again when Tefnut kidnapped Alix Dixon. Faced with a fight against Thoth, Lilly, Natalie, and Stephanie, Tefnut summoned backup from multiple eras in time to overwhelm the heroes so she could flee with Alix.

Stephanie tracked Tefnut to the year 10,035 BC, where they engaged in a climactic battle for Alix. Stephanie finally bested Tefnut in the end, but stopped short of killing her because it would create a paradox. Instead, Stephanie sent Tefnut forward in time, pledging she’d be ready when they met again.
